Irene “Teeny” Combs Ackman, of Independence, KY passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at the age of 83.

She was born in Morning view, KY on July 15, 1934; the daughter of Albert and Evelyn Cross. Irene retired from Van Melle Candies as a machinist.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Steve; sister, Rita Ohmer and Wanda Hadler and brothers, Albert “Sonny” Cross, Edward “Boots” Cross and Jim Cross.

Irene is survived by her loving children, Kay Combs, Beverly Sue (Jimmy) Crabtree and Tom (fiancée Lisa) Combs; 5 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends.

A visitation for Irene will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 8, 2017 at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Burial will follow at Independence Cemetery.

Memorials in Irene’s name can be made to St. Elizabeth Hospice, 1 Medical Village Drive, Edgewood, KY 41017.
