Obituary of Kathleen Marie Barth
Kathleen Marie “Kathy” Barth, of Florence, KY, passed away peacefully with her family by her side after a courageously fought battle with cancer at the vibrant age of 63. She was born on August 11, 1958 to the late Martin and Mary Jane Nie in Newport, KY. Kathy worked at Nie’s Pharmacy and was a member of Mary, Queen of Heaven Church in Erlanger, KY. In her spare time, Kathy often enjoyed fishing and camping with her family and tending to her gardens. She was also very active in youth baseball and the Boys Scouts of America. One of Kathy’s greatest interests came with her ability to sew. She was very gifted and loved to needlepoint, knit and crochet as well.
Her greatest joy, however, came from spending time with her beloved family who she cherished deeply. Kathy was a kind and generous soul who was very nurturing, not only to her children, but also to other children in her family as well as those not related to her. She had a big heart and welcomed everyone with open arms. Her love of children, even in her final days, never wavered.
Preceding Kathy in death are her parents and one brother, Mark Nie.
Those left surviving to carry on Kathy’s enduring memory include her best friend and love of her life, her husband of 44 years, Mark Barth; sons, Jeremy (Christine) Barth and Greg Barth; siblings, Jack Nie and Sharon Lang; grandchildren, Evan Barth, Addison Barth, Sophie Barth; as well as numerous other relatives and friends who are now emptier upon her passing.
A Gathering of Friends will be held to honor Kathy’s life on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Mary, Queen of Heaven, 1150 Donaldson Highway, Erlanger, KY 41018. Inurnment will immediately follow at Mother of God Cemetery in Latonia, KY.
