Obituary of Jane S. James
Jane S. “Janie” James, of Florence, KY was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence at the glorious age of 82. She was born in Burlington, KY on April 1, 1940, the daughter of the late Bill and Lillian Snelling.
Janie had worked for the Boone County Detention Center as a food administrator and was a member of White Water Crossing Church in Harrison, OH. From a young age, Janie worked on a farm. She knew what it took to run a farm and instilled those traits in her children.
In her spare time, Janie enjoyed gathering vegetables from her son’s garden and making fried chicken and apple pie. She also had an affinity towards animals, especially dogs and birds. Her greatest joy, however, came from spending time with her cherished family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding Janie in death were her parents; her devoted husband, Gayhlard James and one son, Robbie James. Those left surviving to carry on Janie’s legacy include her loving children, Lucinda Tunning, Sonny (Paula) James, Mindy (Craig) Trask and Teresa “Diddle” (Rick) Marrs; best friend, Elana Marsh; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends.
A visitation celebrating Janie’s life will be held between on Friday, July 15, 2022, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 8461 Dixie Highway, Florence, KY 41042. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Janie will then be laid to rest and reunited with her husband at Belleview Bottoms Cemetery in Burlington, KY. Expressions of sympathy in Janie’s name may be made to either the American Heart Society, 4540 Cooper Road, Cincinnati, OH 45242 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
