Diane was the best neighbor and friend a child could ask for to grow up with on Yakima Drive. We played on dirt piles and had parades and blindfolded food tests and carnivals and talked and talked. Every day with Diane was fun. As Diane put it recently…”God really blessed all of our innocent hearts! Can any child ask for more? I don’t think so. God blessed us as little children, and we just got to grow up with so much love and imagination!” We all loved you, Diane. You will be forever missed.

Diane was a light who entered my life at a very dark time. 2 years ago God placed her in my path. This path eventually led me to being born again, Hallelujah!
Diane taught me so much about scripture. We would spend hours talking about Jesus, current events, and end time prophecy.
Diane was my first true friend in Christ and for that I’m forever grateful. She will always be in my heart along with all the scriptures she shared with me!
This isn’t goodbye but see you soon!
Love you my friend!

I'm not sure I ever saw Diane without a beautiful smile that would actually warm your heart. I often wondered how she could carry that smile all the time. I know now that her unyielding faith in God was what carried her. She offered our children the space in her life to take them to bible study and she relished their presence. Merely knowing her family and how kind and giving they all are, tells what kind of wife and mother she truly was. She will be missed in ways I can only imagine.

“Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and their works do follow them” (Revelation 14:13). Yes, we are saved by God’s grace, His undeserved love. But our works follow us in the sense that we have been a blessing to those whose lives we have touched with Christ’s light and love and truth along the way. During the 10 years that I was privileged to serve in ministry with Diane and her family, Linda and I and many others were richly blessed by Diane’s faith and faithfulness, her love and joy in the Lord, along with the other fruits of the Spirit. And I’m sure that countless others were blessed by her kindness and goodness in the years before and after. However, if Diane were asked about her life of service to her Savior, she would likely have replied in the words Jesus suggested to His disciples, “We are unworthy servants. We have only done our duty.” Rest in peace, dear sister in Christ!

I know I won't be adding anything to the many feelings that everyone else has felt when in Diane's presence. Whenever you saw Diane her smile lifted you, the warmth she exuded touched your heart. I had the privilege of watching Diane grow up, knowing the love my children felt from her as well whenever they played together. Diane made others happy, helped them feel included, spread trust letting others feel her caring. God blessed our neighborhood with Diane, her parents Walt and Ruth, her brother Bob. We all wish we could take away the pain her husband, children, parents, sibling and all who loved her must feel. I imagine that while Diane was struggling with her illness she still was spending much of her time asking God to help all she loved through this and trusting that He would. I am thanking God for all the good He gave us through Diane. Diane is filled with joy in heaven. Picture her smile now! Love, prayers, Elaine Schneider

Q: How did you meet Diane?
A: I first met Diane at church. Diane, her husband and her 5 children would always be sitting together along with some of their friends. She was a very devoted wife and mother. I learned so much from Diane, how a disciple of Christ should walk by faith and experience the love that Jesus has for us! She served others, studied God’s word, shared His love and was in constant prayer. She had so much knowledge and I looked forward to the time we spent together, whether it be at the hospital during treatment, at the house or watching the girls playing tennis. A beautiful soul was Diane, her smile was contagious and told her story! Her love of life, her family and friends! Her presence was angelic and I know her heavenly home is her residence now! I will miss her dearly, but I know for sure I will see her again one day in Glory! Love you Diane!

Diane was a true friend and an inspiration. Her smile was so beautiful and it exemplified the joy in her heart. This joy truly came from her love of Christ. Greg and I met her in an interesting way. We had seen her at church but had not yet talked to her until her minivan rear-ended us on Mt.Zion road in 2000. The damage was minor and she said that she had been distracted by the kids. That moment forged a friendship. So many years of Easter egg hunts at our house, Halloweens with the Derks enjoying our burgundy beef sandwiches, watching our kids play together….so many memories. Diane is a testament to motherhood, a Godly wife and what it means to be a Christian on this Earth. Her children represent her goodness and love in such an amazing way. The love she and John share was always so wonderful to see. We look forward to being with her again in Heaven. We will miss her dearly till then. Diane, we promise to be there for your family in any way we can.
With all our love,
Ligia, Greg, Ison and Therion McDonald

The tribute to Diane is so beautiful and spot on. I was part of her Bible study group for 15 years. Diane taught me so much, and for that I will always be thankful. Her faithfulness and sound Biblical teachings brought me from a lukewarm Christian to realizing my need for Jesus and building a relationship with Him. If I learned anything, it was stay in His Word, don't be deceived, and put my faith and trust in Jesus, rather than the things and people of this world. I will certainly miss all of Diane's beautiful qualities, including her research and recall ability. One of her wishes was that we keep our Bible study group together, and we will. However, no one will replace Diane...she was amazing!
