Barry was a follower of Christ and I look forward to meeting with him again in Heaven. He was a friend and we enjoyed many good times in high school, at Church, on the golf course, and even in Florida after I moved there. Barry was always friendly and positive towards others. He will be missed. Prayers for his family.

Coach True is and was the most inspirational person, coach and teacher. He treated everyone the same and never gave bad advice. Especially cracking basketball. He will never be forgotten. God's Speed and Love you Coach True

Q: What was one of your favorite qualities of Barry?
A: All of us have dealt with having a friend or relative face the end of their time on God’s earth. I can say I rarely have seen anyone go through the struggle with more class and positive attitude than Barry. Strangely I didn’t get to hang with him much over the last 40 years. Occasionally I’d run into him at a restaurant or share thoughts on Facebook. I have come to feel very close. I pray for his family and look forward to seeing him on the other side.

The memories of Barry are thick and as real and clear as if they were yesterday. Both of us grew up in Ryland Heights so we learned early on to enjoy the quiet and scenic parts of living in the country. He was older than me so he was one of the 'big guys" who would come to the basketball courts in the back of Ryland Elementary and play ball with the younger guys. Of course, all of us wanted him on our team as well as the other older guys like Randy Davis and Joe Martin. Both of us taught at Twenhofel MS for 30 years and more during its heyday back in the old building when we were family. We took care of each other as a faculty. Barry was one that I looked to as a role model in how to conduct myself as a professional. We talked many times in each other's rooms about all sorts of things about our jobs or families or just life. Barry was a calming force to those around him. I appreciate that one of the last times we communicated via email, he shared his love of Jesus and that he was ready to meet the Lord. That can't always be said by others. I envision him worshiping the Lord in his new body and if there are golf courses in Heaven, he is hitting endless holes in one.
