Obituary of Joyce Ray Vest
Joyce Ray Courtney Vest of Verona, age 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 27, 2024, in the comfort of her own home. She was born in Glencoe, KY on March 24, 1935, to the late Lucille {Kinman} and Homer Courtney. Joyce worked at Verona Bank for many years and retired from Eagle Bank. She spent most of her free time tending to her gardens, which she enjoyed. Joyce was on the New Bethel Cemetery Board and was a founding member of the Verona life squad. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Joyce enjoyed a good conversation and spirited discussions. She never lacked determination no matter what it was that she set her mind to. Joyce was a loving mother, sister, and grandmother who will be missed beyond measure.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald “Ronnie” Vest and her siblings, James Courtney, Jack Benny Courtney and Laura Janis Hill.
She is survived by her children, Gregory (Alberta) Vest and Connie (Henry) Kenkel; sister, Clarice Alcorn; 8 beloved grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; as well as other friends and relatives who will cherish her memory.
