
Obituary of Ruth Walker
Ruth Walker, 79, of Independence, KY passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood. The daughter of the late Henry Clay Barker and Lillian Gertrude {Henry} Barker, Ruth was born in Cincinnati, OH on March 9, 1945. Ruth was a member of the First Baptist Church of Independence for many years and enjoyed the time spent worshipping God alongside her friends who also attend. A devout Christian, Ruth always found time in her day to study her bible. She also enjoyed cooking meals for family gatherings, going for a walk, or spending time with her beloved family. Ruth was known for her giving heart which led her to donate to those in need when she could.
She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Marty Fuller, Jr., Jonathon Fuller, James Moore, James T. (Vanessa) Walker III, and Nathaniel Walker; and great-grandchildren Laurie Lynn, Alexis, and Hannah.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, James T. Walker Sr.; children Laurie Walker, Kimberle Walker, Melissa Fuller, and James Walker, Jr.; as well as all of her siblings.
A visitation will be held between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM with a funeral service to immediately follow at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, February 18th, at First Baptist Church of Independence, 11691 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. Ruth will be laid to rest by her husband’s side at Highland Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, KY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Independence Mission Fund.
