Douglas “Doug” Paul Leugers, Sr. July 30, 1958 – February 27, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Douglas Paul Leugers, Sr., who left this world on February 27, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on July 30, 1958, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio, Doug was a beloved husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

He was the son of Marjorie Petty, who survives him, and father Vernon Leugers, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his son, Justin Leugers, his brother, Chris Leugers his stepfather, Glenn Petty, Sr. and his stepbrother, Michael Petty.

Doug Sr. is survived by his wife, Paula Leugers, who was his steadfast partner in life and love. He is also survived by his loving children: Douglas (Lona) Leugers Jr., Andrea (Joe) Moffett, Lucas (Jill) Leugers, and Maria (Jason) Tarlton. He was a proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of his first great-grandchild, Maelynn.

He is also survived by his siblings, Juli (Joe) Ludwig, Glenn Petty Jr., and Connie (Greg) Ihle, along with many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Doug was a man of quiet strength, unwavering love, and deep loyalty to his family. He was always there when he was needed, offering his support, guidance, and protection without hesitation. His devotion to those he loved was evident in everything he did. Doug was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan, loved listening to music, and was a history enthusiast.

A memorial gathering will be held on March 8th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a service from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence, KY.

Though he is no longer with us, his love, strength, and unwavering commitment to family will remain in our hearts forever.
