Obituary of Karen Parsons
Karen Suzanne Parsons (Rex)
Born in Hazard, Kentucky, and later adopted into a loving family in Independence, Kentucky, Karen S. Parsons lived a life full of love, faith, and devotion to those she cherished. She passed away after a short but courageous battle with lung cancer.
At just 12 years old, Karen met her soulmate, Charlie Parsons, and from that moment on, their lives became beautifully intertwined. Her parents in-law welcomed her into their home, loving her as their own. Together, she and Charlie, raised four beautiful daughters who were the center of her world. Her home was always filled with faith and the closeness of family, where her children grew up alongside their cousins, celebrating birthdays and holidays in a way that made every gathering special.
Karen had a gift for making people feel loved. She was motherly and nurturing to anyone in need, always offering a comforting presence and support. She could often be found on the phone, talking for hours with her sister, sharing stories. Her evening regimen included her youngest daughter and “Bestie”, Bre, cuddling up while they shared details of their day. Karen gave of herself and her time freely with no expectation of return.
Her grandchildren, who knew her best as "Gammy," were her pride and joy. She adored taking them to county fairs and festivals, spoiling them with treats and games, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. Her home was never complete without a furry companion, and her beloved dog, Goldie, was no exception—spoiled with cheeseburgers and affection.
In heaven, Karen is greeted by her parents; Gilbert and Goldie Rex, her daughter; Angie Parsons, her “person”; Charlie Parsons, her brothers; Mike and Daryl Rex, and her father-in-law; Bill Parsons.
Left on earth to cherish her memory and mourn her loss are her daughters; Mandi (Matt) Johnson, Jackie Parsons, and Breanna Parsons, her sister; Judy Ramler, her six grandchildren; Maliah, Jada, Mason, Niya, Evan, Amirah, Charlie, and Gianna, and her two great-grandchildren; Bodie and Swade, as well as her nieces and nephews.
Services for Karen will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home 8461 Dixie Highway, Florence, KY 41042. Visitation will last from 4:00pm-6:00pm with her service beginning at 6:00pm.
