Obituary of Genene J. Lyons
Genene Jones Lyons, age 90 of Florence, Kentucky was beloved and cherished by her family, friends and the church she was joyfully invested in. Her presence will be deeply missed and most lovingly remembered. We are comforted in the knowledge that she now rejoices in the kingdom of her Savior Jesus Christ who she believed, loved and proclaimed. Genene was raised in Peeled Oak, KY the only child of Kenneth and Lillian. She was their dimpled dumplin, the apple of their eye. She married her childhood sweetheart Frank Lyons and they built a life together that flourished for 62 years until his passing. It warms our hearts to know they are reunited hand in hand.
She is survived by her four daughters, Ramona (Doug) Wilson of Batesville, IN, Angela ( Jeff) Wells of Ft. Thomas, KY, Jennifer (Duke) Flaherty of Mason , OH and Amy (Len) Teepen of Florence, KY; devoted “Monee” to Brent (Abby) Wilson and Todd Wilson, Josh (Holli)Wells, Ben ( Amber) Wells, Matt (Kristi) Wells, Jaysie (Ken) Valuska, Kelsey (Alex Heck) Flaherty, Jackson Flaherty, Tyler(Alyssa) Teepen, Tanner ( Lauren) Teepen, Tucker (Carolyn) Teepen, Tate Teepen and fiancé Halley Bowling. She will live in memory to the next generation of great grandchildren, Alison, Nathan and Autumn Wells, Remi and Layne Wells, Kenny and Jack Valuska, Fitzgerald and Frankie Flaherty, Lindley, Pierce, and Tripp Teepen, Bennett and Titus Teepen, Tilly Teepen and an anticipated Wells great granddaughter in May.
Genene was a committed Christ follower and poured service and devotion into the church she loved, Walton First Baptist Church. She lived a life of the highest accord, kindly, simply, serving others. As well Genene served in the activity department at Florence Park Care Center for 19 years.
We are so grateful for the example that Genene leaves to each of us. We rest assured that we will see her again. Meanwhile, she has left a rich and cherished Kentucky heritage in our hands to follow. May it be so.
Visitation will be at Walton First Baptist Church, Walton, KY on Saturday March 29 from 11-1 with a Celebration Service following. Interment will be at New Bethel cemetery in Verona, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Benevolence Fund at Walton First Baptist Church, 47 South Main Street, Walton, KY 41094.
