Ronald Gene  Klotz, age 68, of Independence, KY, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood, KY. surrounded by his family. He was a retired firefighter,  the former Asst. Fire Chief of the Corinth Fire Department, and a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Independence.  “Ronnie” was a dedicated firefighter for over 35 years and served at several fire departments over the years including at Kenton, Crittenden, Piner, Williamstown, and Corinth.  Besides serving the community as a fireman, Ronnie gave back by being involved in several First Responder & Military Nonprofit Organizations such as Kentucky Homeland Heros, Sheep Dog Impact Assistance, and Angels from the Battlefield.  When he wasn’t working or volunteering, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening.  Over the years, Ronnie had a passion for cars and car racing.  He participated in demolition derbies, round track racing, and loved the “Fast and Furious” movies.  He also had an affinity for his 1988 Ford Econoline van he kept running for many years!  His greatest love though was for his family including his wife (of over 47 years), Susan A. Ransom Klotz; children, Theresa Heeger (Fred), Rebecca Brummett (Terry), Michael Klotz, and Lawrence “Larry” Klotz; siblings, Judy Schmiade Huelsman and James Schmiade; grandchildren, Angela Stanfield (T.J.), Brittany Williams, Austin Heeger, Hunter Williams (Linda), Dominick Klotz (Tamara), Ethan Mosley, Katie Barnes (Ethan), Lacy Dalton, Gracelyn Ferguson, Jocelyn Ferguson, Adalyn Ferguson; great grandchildren, Kenzie Stanfield, Skylar Hubbard, Courtney “Fatty” Stanfield, Oakleigh “Oak” Collins, Halo “Hosscat” Collins, Levi Klotz, Lyndee Dalton, Weston Klotz, Magnolia “Maggie” Dalton and Kohen Barnes; dogs, Ozzy, Chum, and Tucker; and his beloved animals at Stanfield Acres Farm.  Preceding Ronnie in death were his parents, Lawrence Herbert and Marie Elizabeth Bach Klotz; brother, Joe Schmiade; brothers-in-law, Tom Huelsman and Larry Slaven; and sister-in-law, Sandy “Auntie” Schmiade.  Visitations for Ronnie will be Sunday, March 30, 2025, from 2 to 5 p.m. with a tribute to him by his children closing the evening out and again on Monday, March 31, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051.  His funeral service will be held Monday at 12 noon at the funeral home.  Interment will be at Independence Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Klotz family, c/o Chambers and Grubbs or by clicking here.
