Mary Jo met my mom, Rae Beasley, when they worked together at Turfway Park. They became good friends and after my mom left the track, Mary Jo would visit her as often as she could. Mom enjoyed those visits greatly and always said "She's a really good friend".
We appreciated Mary Jo visiting her as often as she did. Sending prayers to her family!

Mary Jo was such a beam of light when she walked into the room. I know this is such a shock and a lot of questions will be ask. Her Mom Helen and my Mom Dutch were in the hospital at the same time, because my brother Joey was born the 30th of July 1964. I know words can’t help this dear family at this time. I just want you to know your Mom was such a fabulous person and she will be missed by al, that had the gift of privilege to know her. I am so sorry Ican’t be there for this dear family. I just want you to know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers

When we were little Mary Jo and I would ride horses at her parents home! Aunt Helen would only let us ride this old spotted horse-no saddle needed cuz she was drooped down! It was a great time and fun childhood with her and sweet memories I’ll cherish forever! She was a beautiful friend and cousin to me always! I will miss her

To the family. . .when I heard of Mary Jo's passing it was the feeling of disbelief. . .then I found out she was 60 yrs old, the same age of my father when he passed. God only knows why the "good ones" are called home early. . .far too soon for all of us. My heart goes out to each of you, especially Jill and Kellie. Don't think I'll ever forget Ms. Fisher and mom encouraging you to get that wheelchair up and over the curb at school and Kellie, your baby will be forever loved by this family and Mary Jo will be the angel watching over. Prayers always. . .

Mary Jo was a good friend to the Kenton Co. Retired Teachers Association. We held our Executive Board Meetings at Twenfofel 4 times a year and Mary Jo was always accommodating letting us use the staff meeting room. She was a special friend to those of us who taught at Piner Elementary. The Schmiade Family were active in the the Piner community. She will be greatly missed by many people.

I met Mary Jo when her darling daughter Jill was 3 years old, and I was lucky enough to be Jill’s preschool teacher. She was the most incredible mom, who became my dear friend. Her strength, devotion and love of her family was always unquestionable & her endless energy always amazed me. I will forever be grateful for all that Mary Jo taught me over the years, and for our long term friendship. Our recent lunch together was such a fun reunion and I will treasure her smiles, kind words, and witty humor forever. My heart is breaking for you Jill- I know how close you and your mom were. Much love and on-going prayers to Joe, Joseph and Kelsie.

Schmiade Family:
Patty and I are so sorry to hear of the passing of Mary Jo. Like many of the other long time legends of Twenhofel, she earned her way into the TMS Hall of Fame. We last saw her when we were delivering backpacks for our annual backpack drive for our church, 7 Hills. She was smiling and so glad to see us. It had been a while since I had been to TMS since I retired. Like it has always been, we were immediately welcomed back into the fold by Mary Jo and others, even if for a brief time. I have come to truly enjoy the Schmiades, and especially Barney (Jill). We pray that God will shine His peace on your family and that He will be the One you lean on during this time and in the upcoming weeks, months, and years. Love, Rod and Patty Pierce

Mary Jo was a very special friend to me. We had many fun times and sad times together at Turfway She was always kind and would insist on gifts for Christmas for my granddaughters. She insisted I get a Barbi house for one of them. She even found one for me. So my granddaughter was very lucky that year. I loved her to the moon and back. She was always an inspiration to me. Hugs and prayers to the family.

MJ was always a beacon in the front office. We've worked together for over 10 years, and she always smiled and greeted me when I made me treck to the front office. She took care of us all and made sure we had what we needed. She always took the time out of her day to ask about my daughters and followed them in sports. She was an amazing person and will be missed.

I met Mary Jo when I had her daughter, Jill, in sixth grade at Twenhofel Middle School. I went on to teach her son, Joe. Mary Jo had a personality that would light up a room. She was funny and likeable the minute you met her. My condolences go to her husband, kids, and all who loved her.
