John Jackson Obituary

John Jay Jackson, age 69, passed away peacefully at his lifelong home in Morning View on May 15, 2025. Born and raised on the same homestead, John’s roots ran deep in the land and the community that shaped him.

He was the beloved son of Robert F. “Boots” Jackson and Esther Jackson McIntyre, and was raised alongside ten siblings in a home filled with hard work, strong faith, and family devotion. The Jackson family were faithful parishioners of St. Matthew Church, proud graduates of Simon Kenton High School, and the tireless owners and operators of The Esther Jackson Farm—a legacy of labor and love that John helped to carry on.

John lived with an unwavering commitment to his Catholic faith, which he considered the foundation of his life. “There’s nothing like being a Catholic,” he would often say, a simple statement that spoke volumes about his identity. He found joy and purpose in serving his church community and felt a profound sense of belonging in his faith.

A man of strong work ethic and gentle spirit, John’s greatest joy was his family. He cherished every moment with his grandchildren, who brought light and laughter into his later years. Whether tending to the cattle and land or sharing a laugh with loved ones on the porch, John embraced the simple, meaningful pleasures of life. His loyal pup, George, was never far from his side—a faithful companion to the end.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Boots” Jackson and Esther Jackson McIntyre, his stepfather William “Bill” McIntyre, and siblings Robert “Bob” Jackson, Mary Presnell, and Timothy Jackson.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Kaylynn (Kevin) Cooper and stepson Steven (Tarin) Hensley; his devoted wife and friend, Sherry Jackson; his siblings, Patricia Schalck, Jack (Sandy Sue) Jackson, Jerry Jackson, Margie Curran, James (Sheila) Jackson, Randy Presnell, Sherri (Mike) Moffett, Sandy Kay (Greg) Lubben, and Leo McIntyre; and his adored grandchildren - his "three weeds", Maybalee Miller "Ironweed", Luca Cooper "Cocklebur", Esther Cooper "Multifloral Rose", and baby boy Cooper, expected soon.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 21st at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm.
