Bethalee Lawson Filer, born on December 28, 1942, to the late Luther and Eva Lawson in Williamsburg, KY passed away peacefully at her home in Covington, Kentucky, surrounded by her family on May 16, 2025 at the age of 82.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 52 years Jim Filer; brothers Lawrence Lawson and Luther "Junior" Lawson; sisters Opal Adkins and Naomi Blevins; as well as great-grandchild Jabyn Livingston. 

Bethalee — known for her larger-than- life, fiery, feisty personality — enjoyed spending time with her family more than anything, especially her grandkids. She was a caring wife, mom, and mamaw who loved with her whole heart and will be missed beyond measure.

Survivors include her daughters Brenda Beers (Mark) of Covington, KY, Jamie Patterson (Steve) of Lexington, KY, Melissa Wilson (Mark) of Walton, KY; 15 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; her brother Jess Lawson (Helen); sisters Meskel Whiteker (Jim); Elizabeth Lawson and Norma Dohren, in addition to several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Community Family Church, where Bethalee was a lifetime member.  Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until shortly before the time of the memorial service at 12:00 PM. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Community Family Church Kids' Ministry to send a child to camp or to Community Christian Academy, where Bethalee and Jim both taught in the early years of the school.  Memorial donations can be made in person at services or also online.
