Sharon L Egger Obituary

Sharon L Egger (Carpenter), age 82, of Walton, KY passed from this world on Sunday, May 18, 2025. She will be fondly remembered by the joyous smile that she shared and the fun that followed her.

Born in Madison, Wisconsin, Sharon Egger was a woman of unwavering passion, devotion, and love. She moved to Kentucky as a young girl and quickly embraced the life and traditions of her new home. After graduating from Dixie High School, she continued her education by taking college courses at Northern Kentucky University, always eager to expand her knowledge.

Sharon dedicated much of her professional life to service, working for the Kenton County Board of Education before pursuing a career in retail with JC Penney, McAlpins, and Dillards. However, her true passions lay outside the workplace.

Lovely, loving, and loved. Sharon lived a life full with friends and family. She would often be found at home cleaning and decorating, at a basketball game cheering on her sons, or at a local retail store providing merchandise to her community or finding something new for herself. She adored being “grandma”; making herself available at each chance to babysit the grandkids where she would put them right in the car and head out to spoil them.

With her husband, David Egger, of 50 years, Sharon loved to take long trips on the motorcycle. They attended bike rides to Sturgis, Milwaukee, Daytona, and the Great Smokey Mountains. They were regulars at Walt’s Hitching Post and Friday nights were “family night” at the Greyhound Tavern. Sharon was easy to love. A lifelong fan of sports; Sharon loved the Cincinnati Bengals and attended the very first game in Cincinnati and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer them on. She also carried an unwavering loyalty to the UK basketball team, she loved her Wildcats. Go Big Blue! For over 40 consecutive years her family attended the Indy 500.

In her later years, Sharon made a new home in The Villages of Florida taking up golf, socializing and crocheting.

Sharon is preceded by her husband; David Egger, parents; Lawrence and June (Dunbar) Carpenter and her sister; Marilynn Trusty.

Left to mourn her loss are her sons; Jeff (Monica) Egger and Jim Egger, brothers; Charles Carpenter and Doug Carpenter, and her grandchildren; Karina Mae Egger and James “Mitchell” Egger.

If you knew Sharon through family, sports, community, or were part of the Willie Nelson fan club with her; it is an understatement that your lives were touched and are better for having her along your journey.
