Floyd Earl Humphrey passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the age of 100, surrounded by family, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood, KY. He was born on July 21, 1924. Mr. Humphrey was preceded in death by his wife, Rhoda, in 2009. They had been happily married for sixty-one years at the time of her death.
Floyd was also preceded in death by his parents Sinnett and Angel Humphrey, four brothers, three sisters, and son-in-law, Jimmy Simpson. He is survived by his daughters, Rhonda (Rick) Stephens of Walton, KY and Theresa Simpson of Seattle, WA, and Marita Dean of Erlanger, KY; grandchildren, Rita (Bob) Small, Julie (Chad) Spiering, Sarah (Paul) Sturgeon, Jessica (Scott) Stephens-Minnich, Lisa (Brent) Pruess, Tracy (Dustin) Hansen, and Jerren Foley; eight great-grandchildren; and three great, great grandchildren.
Floyd enjoyed antique automobiles, especially driving his 1931 Chevrolet, working in his yard, and watching westerns on T.V. Over his 100 years, Floyd worked as a Teamster Truck Driver, was a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp, and was the oldest living member of First Baptist Church of Walton (being a member since February 14, 1954). He was a man of strong faith, who served the church as Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, and as Deacon Emeritus.
Visitation for Floyd will be Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 10 am to 12 noon with his funeral service to follow at 12 noon at the First Baptist Church of Walton, 47 South Main St., Walton, KY 41094. His interment, with military honors, will immediately follow at Walton Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Floyd may be made to the church.
