Jane Louise Garner (Plummer), age 81, of Independence, KY, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 26, 2025, in the presence of her beloved family.
Jane was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She dedicated her career to caring for others as a nurse, retiring from the Gateway Rehabilitation Center, where her natural compassion and strength shone daily. Known for her quiet fierceness and unwavering support, Jane was an advocate for those in need. She found deep joy in helping others heal and be the best version of themselves, and she gave of herself freely — not just in her profession, but in every moment she spent with family and friends.
Jane relished spending time with her large family, surrounded by laughter and the warmth of family gatherings — loud, crowded, and filled with love. She had an extraordinary gift for making others feel cherished. To know Jane was to love her.
A true artist in every sense, Jane had a remarkable talent for turning everyday moments into something beautiful. She crocheted and sewed intricate baby blankets, Halloween costumes, and home decorations, all crafted with care and creativity. Her adventurous spirit came alive on family trips boating and camping in many different states. In her later years, she enjoyed playing cards and games with her sister, best friend, children, and grandchildren sharing memories and laughter. She had a life-long love of the Cincinnati Reds. Her family remembers her meticulous record keeping of their games. She also loved sunrises and the promise of a new day.
Jane was incredibly intelligent and capable with skills that ranged from quilting to welding. She approached life on her own terms, always determined and dependable. She loved fiercely and unconditionally, and she generously shared her knowledge, talents, and wisdom with those around her.
Jane is preceded by her parents; Alfie and Ruth Plummer (Morris), her husband; Elmer Garner, her son; Donald Garner, and her brothers; John (Barbara) Plummer, James (Mabel) Plummer, Robert Plummer, Charles Finnell, and Joseph Barone.
Left to cherish her memory are her children; Michelle Rex, Robin (Shayne) Scott, Nannett Coffee, Timothy Younger, Michael Younger, Raymond Guffey, James Siereveld, Harvey (Donna) Garner and Roger Garner, her siblings; Christy Finnell, Ruth Ann Barone, Maxine Plummer, and Alfie Plummer, lifelong friend; Darlene Compton, twenty-six grandchildren, and forty-three great-grandchildren, along with many friends, and extended family. Her first great-great-grandchild will arrive this year in August.
