Linda Renshaw Obituary

Linda Smith Renshaw, 77, of Harrison County, KY, died on May 31, 2025, after a ten-year battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Known for her generous heart, love of family, and famous cookies, Linda leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories for her family and friends.

Born on December 13, 1947, in Cynthiana, KY, Linda was the middle daughter of the late Anna (Wood) Smith and Roscoe Smith. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 37 years, Ronnie L. Renshaw, who passed in 2010; and by her brother William Smith. She is survived by her sisters, Nancy Florence of Cynthiana, and Carol Macdonald of LaBelle, FL., along with many nieces and nephews.

A proud 1965 graduate of Harrison County High School, Linda began her career at the UK Medical Center in Lexington before dedicating 40 years of service at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati. She formed lifelong friendships with colleagues and neighbors, whom became part of the family. In retirement, she remained active and social, joining the “Golden Rays,” an active group of retired Good Sam technicians who gathered regularly for lunches and outings.

Linda and Ron made their home on a family farm in Morning View, KY, where they raised their three children – Christie, Jill, and Brian – and enjoyed the country life complete with cattle and even a few horses. With Ron’s woodworking skills and Linda’s green thumb, they enjoyed fixing up the old farmhouse and their multiple gardens. Linda found joy in gardening and canning to hosting gatherings, getting lost in a good mystery novel, riding four-wheelers, and playing cards. Her broccoli casserole, cheeseball, chocolate chip cookies, and her peach daquiris made from peach trees on the farm, were famous among friends and family.

Travel was a treasured part of Linda’s life. She especially loved trips to Florida and Gatlinburg with Ron, but her most memorable trips were to Europe with her sister, where she got to visit her daughter Jill who was stationed there while in the military, and an Alaskan cruise with her daughters, where she especially loved meeting sled dogs. Linda’s love for animals started early with her childhood bunny, Snowball, and continued throughout her life.

Above all, Linda was devoted to her family. She is survived by her children, Christie Richardson (Jim) of Union, KY; Jill Renshaw of Florence, KY; and Brian Renshaw (Corrina) of Walton, KY. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Elijah (13), Joshua (10), Abigail (6), Olivia (5), Nathaniel (2), and Zachary (1). Her grandchildren will remember her for Gator rides around the farm, backyard bonfires with marshmallows, endless snacks, and her steady attendance at every event and milestone.

Friends and family are invited to a time of visitation and refreshments on Friday, June 20, 2025, from noon – 2pm at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11832 Madison Pike, Independence, KY. A graveside service will immediately follow at Independence Cemetery.
