Christopher Robin Rupert, 69, of Independence, KY, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 19th beside his wife and best friend of 49 years. The son of the late Fred and Helen Rupert, Chris was born in Covington, KY on November 12, 1955. Chris enjoyed the simpler things in life like cheering for the UK Wildcats, Cincinnati Bengals, and the Reds. He also liked watching auto races and taking a boat out for a ride; but what he enjoyed the most was supporting and watching his grandkids grow. Remember him not for his long-fought battle with illness, but for his survivor mentality, humor, grit, and unconditional love for his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gayle Patterson Rupert; children Aaron (Tiffany) Rupert and Samantha (Mike) Oldiges; grandchildren Noah and Caleb Rupert as well as Tony and Luke Oldiges; and grand-dogs Belle Belle and Oscar. He was known as ‘Papaw’ to more than just his grandchildren, he also gave his time and love to Trey, Jackson, and Brady Egan. He will be missed by many, especially those who knew and loved him the most.
In addition to his parents, Chris was preceded in death by his sister Kathy Short; nephew Matt Martin; niece Hannah Patterson; and brothers-in-law Jim Kyker and Mike Patterson.
A visitation will be held between 4 PM and 6 PM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 6 PM on Tuesday, June 24th at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church 3285 Mills Rd, Taylor Mill, KY 41015. Chris will be laid to rest at Independence Cemetery the following day on Wednesday, June 25th at 12 PM; those who wish to join the procession to the cemetery must arrive at Chambers & Grubbs-Independence overflow parking lot by 11:45 AM. Memorial donations may be made to Network for Hope (Formerly Life Center) by mail at 615 Elsinore Place, Suite 400 Cincinnati, OH 45202 and/or to St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church for their building fund by clicking here.
