Barbara Alice Simpson, 94, of Crittenden, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her home on July 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born to Floyd and Audrey Sebree, Barbara lived a life full of love, faith, hard work, and generosity. She dedicated 10 years to Dr. Maddox as a dental assistant and 25 years as a personal assistant to Dr. Waller—where she was known for her steady hands, warm heart, and calming presence.

Barbara had attended Walton Baptist Church where she faithfully played the organ and piano for many years, sharing her musical gifts in worship and fellowship. Outside of work and church, she found joy in traveling, camping, and reading—her passion for history made her a cherished storyteller and source of knowledge.

Barbara was also a devoted farm wife and the heart of the O.W. Simpson Farm, which she and her husband established together in 1949. The farm was known not just for its beef cattle and tobacco crops, but for the meals that came out of Barbara’s kitchen. Her cooking was legendary—so much so that many happily volunteered to help in the fields just for the chance to enjoy one of her home-cooked meals. Her baked spaghetti, meatloaf and fudge were particular favorites, prepared with love and served with a side of her warm hospitality.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Opal “Dude” Simpson, sons Gary and Larry Simpson, sister Jean Bonfert and brother, Charles Praither.

Barbara's legacy continues through her beloved family: her son, Jeff (Gloria) Simpson; her grandchildren, Anthony (Mandy) and James (Rachel) Simpson; and her great-grandchildren, Addyson, Alivia, Henry, and Natalie Simpson. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her generous spirit, and the many lives she touched with her kindness and wisdom.

Services will be private for the family.
