Glen Thomason Obituary

Odis Glen Thomason (May 21, 1935 - July 25, 2025), of Burlington, KY, passed away surrounded by loved ones and family after 90 incredible years.  He was a Korean War Army Veteran, a businessman, a horseman, a boxer, a farmer, and a beloved family man.

Odis Glen Thomason was born to Gertie Graham and Otie Thomason on May 21, 1935, served the United States in the Korean War where he was wounded in the service of his nation, tried his hand in boxing and business, but ultimately settled on his true-life passion: horse racing.  As a trainer at Thomason Stables, Glen participated in over 2500 races with dozens of beloved thoroughbred horses, who continued to live with him even after his retirement in 2021.

Glen was also a devoted family man.  He was the definition of a man, a father, a protector, and a provider.  He was a father figure to many, who have fond memories of his cheerfulness, wisdom, strength, persistence, and dedication to establishing a legacy of a beloved family living the American dream.  Glen enshrined a love for animals with his families, surrounding them with dogs, cats, horses, miniature ponies, chickens, ducks, guineafowl, peacocks, rabbits, and so many other animals; whom he is surely reunited with in Heaven.  He was always there for his family.  He loved with everything he did, and his family felt his love every day.  He inspired many, and he will continue to inspire many through his family and legacy.

Glen will always be remembered for his passion for his family and his country.  We couldn’t have asked for a better mentor, and we will miss him every day.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents Otie Thomason and Gertie Graham, his grandfather Charlie Monroe Graham, his brother Bill Pierson, and his sister Lonell Pierson Smith.  Glen is survived by his beloved Edith Frances Griffin Jenkins; his children Carmel and Randy Woolsey, David and Jan Thomason, Alan and Amy Thomason, Tricia and Eric Daughtery, and Kisha and  Martin O’Madden; his grandchildren Bobby Woolsey, Brent Thomason, Greg Thomason, Chelsea Thomason, Zachary Thomason, Dylan Thomason, Nolan Daughtery, Colin Daughtery, Brianna Roberts, TJ Roberts, and Isabella O’Madden; as well as his great grandchildren Ella Woolsey, Madyson Woolsey, Rain Thomason, Pierce Thomason, Parker Thomason, and Everest Thomason.
