Clyde Allen Obituary
Clyde Allen, age 84, of Independence, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. Born on June 7, 1941, in Clay County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Robert and Hazel (Sester) Allen.
Clyde retired from General Electric, where he worked with pride and diligence as an inspector. Known for his strong work ethic, he often said that work was his favorite hobby — and he meant it. Even in retirement, Clyde remained active and could often be found working out, shooting pool at local establishments, or cheering on his beloved Cincinnati Reds and University of Kentucky Wildcats.
Clyde’s heart belonged to his family. He never missed a game, a meet, or any sporting event involving his children or grandchildren. He loved being present, loud with pride, and quick with a hug. Fishing was one of his simple joys, but his deepest joy came from watching his grandkids grow and thrive.
He is survived by his devoted life partner of over 30 years, Gail Kemper; daughter Lacey Kemper (Ashley Owens); son Michael Newman (Trish); and his siblings: sisters Mayme Rawlings and Anna Ball, and brother Ronnie Allen (Carolyn). Clyde was a proud grandfather to Austin, Dalton, Mark, Marquice, Amare, Jessica, Madison, and Brandon, and great-grandfather to Messiah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Hazel Allen.
Clyde will be remembered for his strength, his steady presence, and his unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on in the stories told at family gatherings, the laughter of his grandkids, and the memories made at countless ballgames.
