Gary Palmer Obituary

Gary Palmer, age 76, of Morning View, KY, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ft. Thomas.

A man of faith, hard work, and devotion to family, Gary was co-owner of Palmer Paving and a longtime member of Wilmington Baptist Church in Morning View. A proud United States Marine Corps veteran and lifetime member of Walton American Legion Post 277, Gary served his country with honor and carried that same spirit of loyalty into every part of his life.

Gary had many passions—whether cheering on his grandchildren or his beloved U.K. Wildcats, casting a fishing line on a quiet day, or playing bass guitar, often alongside friends in the Christian band Living Water. In younger years, he loved the thrill of drag racing, and more recently, he took great pride in owning and showing his classic 1968 Ford Torino.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 52 years, Sandy Chambers Palmer; his children, Jeremy Palmer (Alison) and Angi Magee (Dale); his brothers, Jim Palmer (Diane) and Gerald Palmer (Vickie); his cherished grandchildren, Landin Palmer, Chris Magee (Emily), Nick Magee, and Ryan Magee; and his great-granddaughter, Scarlet Magee, who brought him endless joy. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Eugene Palmer and Betty Martin Palmer, and his brother, Steve Palmer.

A visitation celebrating Gary’s life will be held Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 noon at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. Interment with military honors will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North, 205 Eibeck Lane, Williamstown, KY 41097.
