Alma Sallee, 91, of Florence, KY, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Edgewood Hospital. The daughter of the late James Emmet and Melvina Luvina {Hodges} McCubbin, Alma was born in Union, KY, on July 6, 1934.

Alma found happiness in her kitchen, where she was known for her delicious tomato soup and her love of canning, especially tomatoes. Alma also spent many years growing tobacco. She loved feeding others, and anyone who sat at her table left with a full stomach and a full heart. When she wasn’t preparing a meal, she enjoyed the excitement of the casino, attending bingo nights, and cheering on the UK Wildcats and the Cincinnati Reds, teams she supported with enthusiasm and loyalty.

Above all, Alma’s greatest joy in life was her family. She loved her children and grandchildren fiercely, celebrating their achievements, supporting them through life’s challenges, and showering them with affection.

She will be deeply missed by her children, Angela (Bill) Fugate, Carol (James) Gootee, and James Darren (Lynne) Sallee; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her neighbor and good friend, Kenny Putthoff; as well as many other family and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

In addition to her parents, Alma was preceded in death by her son, William Darrell Sallee (Beatrice), and her brothers, Lloyd and Elden McCubbin.

Services for Alma will be held on Tuesday, November 25th with the visiting hours to be held from 11 AM up until the time of service at 1 PM at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 45 N. Main St. Walton, KY 41094. Alma will be laid to rest at Beech Grove Cemetery in Waterloo, KY.
