Walter John “Krazy Pete” Montoure of Ryland Heights Kentucky passed away peacefully at home after a long illness. He was born on July 12th 1956 to Peggy May Vest and Henry Montoure. He told me that the day he was born, there was a tornado in Walton Kentucky. If you knew Pete you’d know that he enjoyed exaggeration in storytelling. This one happens to be 100% true.
He is preceded in death by his long time sweetheart Karen Ann Mardis.
He leaves behind four children; Jennifer Lloyd, Leila Lloyd, Michael Montoure, and Walter John Marceau. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren; Jay Allen Shrader, Dylan Caine Montoure, Daisy Jain Montoure, Monty Lawrence, and Ryker Marceau.
Krazy Pete loved his children and grandchildren. He also was very active with the Northern Kentucky Beekeeping Association as a mentor and volunteer. He loved harvesting honey from his beehives. He was lovingly known as "Pete the Bee Man". Once his honey was harvested, he would often give it away to friends and strangers. He also started the hobby of making mead and bottling it in his kitchen. He never drank it himself as a rule and had others taste it for quality for him. He was well known and well loved. He will truly be missed.
A celebration of life will be held in Pete's honor on Thursday, April 9th, 2026 at 7:00 pm at the Southgate House Revival, 111East 6th Street, Newport, KY 41071
