Dennis B. McWhorter, 74, of Florence, KY, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY. The son of the late Cora Mae {Ellis} and Ray McWhorter, Dennis was born in Cincinnati, OH on January 6, 1952. He married the love of his life, Frona “Kay” McWhorter, and went on to share the most beautiful life together. They met and were married at Central Parkway Church of God, beginning both a marriage and a walk with Jesus that transformed his life. In July they would be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

Known to those who loved him as a true jack of all trades, Dennis had the ability to fix, build, and improve just about anything he set his mind to. Dennis was also a lifelong and devoted Cincinnati Bengals fan, cheering them on, win or lose, whenever they were broadcast.

Playing video games was one of Dennis's favorite ways to spend his time, whether gathered together as a family or relaxing on his own. From the days of the original Atari to the latest consoles, he explored countless worlds and faced down legendary foes. The Legend of Zelda was always his favorite adventure.  

Dennis will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Kay McWhorter; his children, Maria (Brad) Hazelbaker and Jason (Angela) McWhorter; his siblings, Revena Johnson and David McWhorter; and his grandchildren, Liam McWhorter and Ella McWhorter.

In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his stepmother, Violet McWhorter; and his siblings, Evelyn Winstead, Jimmy McWhorter, Gary McWhorter, and Tanya McWhorter.

Services for Dennis will be held on Friday, February 6th with the visitation beginning at 9amup until the time of his funeral starting at 10am at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home – Florence. Dennis will be laid to rest following his service at Crown Hill Memorial Park in Cincinnati, OH.
