James Arthur Reed Obituary

James Arthur Reed, 83, passed away on March 10, 2026. The most important thing in his life was his love for Jesus, his family, and the people around him.

He never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel welcome. A true jack of all trades, he could build, fix, or figure out just about anything, and he loved teaching his children the same skills and the value of hard work. Hardworking, funny, and deeply loving, he cherished his roles as husband, father, and Pawpaw, and he always tried to keep his wife laughing and bring joy to his family.

He also loved the simple things in life, spending time outside, riding his lawn mower, and working in his garden. Those quiet moments at home were some of the ones he enjoyed most.

His faith wasn’t just something he talked about, it was something he lived every day. He faithfully served his church as a deacon and also served as a chaplain with Kentucky Disaster Relief, offering prayer, comfort, and hope to people during some of life’s hardest moments.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Millard and Mildred Reed and his siblings Mary Reed and Bob Reed. He leaves behind his beloved wife Jeannean Reed; his children Marti Reed, James Reed Jr (Hannah Jones) and Heidi Jackson; his siblings Bill Reed and Pat Reed; his five grandchildren Elijah Jackson, Marley Jackson, Kaiah Landrum , Addison Reed, and Jameson Reed as well as many friends and family who were blessed to know him.

A private celebration of Jim's life will be held by the family. Memorial donations may be directed to Hickory Grove Baptist Church Sunday School either by mail at 11969 Taylor Mill Rd, Independence, KY 41051 or online.
