Connie Hughes, 62, of Covington, Kentucky, passed away on March 21, 2026.

Connie was born to William and Nancy Rabe, who preceded her in death along with her brothers Bill, Jack, Ronnie, and Bob. Her sisters in law, Karen Rabe and Pamela Peters Bates, as well as Pam’s husband Edwin Peters. 

She was a dedicated and hardworking woman who spent over 30 years at Kroger, first as a deli and bakery manager and later as a customer service clerk. Connie took pride in her work and formed lasting connections with those she served and worked alongside.

Connie had a passion for crafting and gardening, and she found her greatest joy in spending time with her grandchildren.

She was the kindest soul—anyone fortunate enough to know her could feel her warmth instantly. She had a natural gift for comforting others, always showing up when she was needed most, often with snacks in hand and love in her heart.

She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Joseph Hughes; her twin daughters, Lauren Marie Parker (Matthew Parker) and Emily Jo Hughes; and her cherished grandsons, Nash and Ace Parker. She is also survived by her siblings, Nancy Hicks, Tom Rabe (Cindy) and David Rabe; and her dear friend Kris, lovingly known as “just the neighbor”; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Connie had a strong relationship with God and a deep faith that guided her life. Though her passing leaves a profound void, her family takes comfort in knowing she is at peace and has been welcomed home. She will be greatly missed, but her love will live on in all who knew her, and one day, we will be reunited with her.

Connie especially loved this time of year and was able to spend her final days in her home, surrounded by those she loved most.

Her memory will forever be a blessing.

Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051 from 2pm-4pm.  Service will begin at 4pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a memorial donation be made to Yung Family Cancer Center, 1 Medical Village Drive, Edgewood, KY 41017.

She will be laid to rest at Independence Cemetery at a later date.
