Randall L. "Randy" Folmer Obituary

Randall Lee “Randy” Folmer, 83, of Covington, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026. He was born to George Lee Folmer and Mayme Frances (Richardson) Folmer Giles.


Randy was a loving husband, devoted family man, and loyal friend. He retired from a career in regional sales for pickle manufacturers.  He enjoyed gardening, including a model railroad garden and spending time playing cards with family and friends. A devoted fan of Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball, Randy never missed an opportunity to cheer on UK. He will be remembered most for his kindness, gentle spirit, and the deep love he had for his family.


He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Raymond Giles; his daughter, Melissa Folmer; and his brother-in-law, Ike Gabbard.


Randy will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 62 years, Roberta “Bobbie Jean” Folmer; his stepbrother, Lee (Diane) Giles; his stepsister, Barbara Giles Gabbard; his sister-in-law, Patricia (Richard) Derickson; his brother-in-law, David Knox; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.


Visitation will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., with burial to follow at St. Cecelia Cemetery.
