Audrey Layne Allen, age 76, of Walton, Kentucky, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 10, 2026. She was comforted in her final moments by her daughter, sister, and grandson.

Audrey was a true spitfire — born in Clay County, KY as the baby girl of nine children, she was strong-willed, loving, and full of life. More than anything else, she was a family girl. Family was the center of her world, and everything she did was done with love for them in mind. On Appalossa Drive she built not just a house, but a home — one that welcomed generations of family and friends through its doors and out into her vibrant garden. Her home was always alive with laughter, gatherings, and memories made around the lake, shuffleboard table, and pool table. She loved nothing more than having her family together.

Audrey was a sports nut who never missed the chance to cheer on the Cincinnati Bengals or the UK Wildcats. Game days were family events, with the group chat buzzing with excitement, encouragement, and spirited commentary as everyone rallied behind their teams together.

Audrey met Gary through work, and the two quickly built a beautiful life together. Gary soon became not only her husband, but her traveling companion and partner in creating countless family traditions. Together they traveled the world, spent summers at the “Boat House,” hosted holidays filled with warmth and laughter, and continued building the kind of home where everyone felt welcome. Audrey especially loved the Fourth of July. She was already eagerly preparing decorations and celebrating in anticipation of America’s 250th birthday.

Preceding Audrey in death is her husband; Gary Layne, her daughter; Kellie Meiman, her parents; Anderson and Lucy Allen, her siblings; Alma, Shirley, Jessie, Betty, and Earl.

She is survived by her daughter; Kathy (Ron) Knorr, siblings; Gordon Allen and Faye Cook, grandchildren; Clinton Knorr, Lindsay, Gavin, and Lylah Meiman and her great- granddaughter Kinsley Lancaster.
