Gary William Robertson

July 23, 1952 – May 25, 2026

Gary Robertson passed away peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Gregory Allen Robertson; his mother, Donna Jean Cottengim Robertson; and his father, William Sanders Robertson.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Julia Robertson; daughters Carrie Robertson (John Elliff) of Pittsburgh, Alison Guest (James Guest) of Columbus, Aaron Weisgerber of Cleveland; sisters Marie Klein and Sandy Haggard, and many nieces and nephews.

A retired Air Force veteran and nuclear engineer, Gary built a career that took him around the world and fueled a lifelong passion for travel and adventure. If a city was mentioned, chances were Gary had been there. He especially enjoyed hitting the road for Irish festivals and was a proud motorcycle enthusiast. He loved genealogy and piloting airplanes. 

When he wasn’t traveling, Gary could usually be found in his workshop, restoring old technology or perfecting his latest 3D printing project. He was a builder, a creator, amateur pilot, devoted husband and father, and a loyal friend whose humor, curiosity, and presence will be deeply missed.

A visitation will be held on Monday, June 1st between 5 and 8 PM at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home – Independence. Gary’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 2nd at 9 AM at St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, 5313 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. Immediately following, Gary will be laid to rest at Independence Cemetery where full military honors will be rendered.
