Goodloe Collins Jr., age 69, passed away peacefully at his home in Covington, KY, on June 30, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Breathitt County, KY, on August 23, 1956, Goodloe was a man of deep faith, hard work, and boundless joy. He dedicated 44 years of his life to construction as a skilled brick mason, leaving a lasting legacy through the structures he helped build.

Goodloe was a remarkably humble man who found his greatest joy in simple pleasures. His true passions were his faith and his family. He loved to fish, casting his line into the water whenever he could, but he was equally dedicated to being a “fisher of men.” He loved Jesus fiercely and made sure everyone he met knew the joy of the Lord. Known for his playful spirit, Goodloe loved to play jokes on people and fill the room with laughter. Above all, his granddaughters were his world; he treasured every moment spent playing and laughing with them.

Goodloe is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Marita Collins; his sons, Virgil Collins and Brian (Jo Ann) Collins; his daughters, Katie (Jason) Gentry and Frances (Corey) Benson; his cherished granddaughters, Chasity Stewart, Carolyn Benson, and Lucille Benson; his sisters, Arminda Herald and Elsie Fornash; his uncle, Clint Combs; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Collins; his uncles, John E. Combs and Bill Combs; and his aunt, Arminda Deaton. 

Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor Goodloe on Monday, July 6, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY, 41051.  Following the visitation,there will be a funeral service at 12:00 PM, also to be held at the funeral home. Burial will then take place at Independence Cemetery, 5358 Madison Pike, Independence, KY, 41051.
