Over the years, our firm has been fortunate to attract and retain staff that is friendly, compassionate, highly skilled and dedicated to their profession. 

Whether it is our licensed staff or non-licensed staff, we believe that it is important for you to feel comfortable with all of the people that you will meet at our firm. As such, we are providing you with a brief background and photograph of the individuals that make up our team.

Janice grew up in Walton, and graduated in 1956 from Walton Verona High School.  Before working for Chambers and Grubbs, she worked  for  Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati, Ohio.   Janice and her high school sweetheart, James D. Grubbs, married in 1959 and celebrated over 50 years of marriage before his death in 2010.    Jim and Janice moved to Independence and started the Independence location in 1963.  She later earned her funeral directors license in 1979.    Janice is a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Walton and Hickory Grove Baptist Church.  She has two sons, Steve and Chris Grubbs.  She enjoys spending time with family and friends, and loves to find ways to help people.

Chris is a fourth generation, licensed Funeral Director.  He is the lucky husband of Pennie (Akers) Grubbs and proud father of three amazing children Mackenzie, Tristan, and Grant, and Charlie, the family’s beloved goldendoodle.  Chris is a graduate of Simon Kenton High School and the University of Kentucky.  After college, he originally worked for South Central Bell and Owen Electric Cooperative before eventually heeding his calling to become a Funeral Director in 1996.  His passions other than his family and profession include U.K. sports, coaching youth sports, exercising and beach vacations.  Over the years, he has been involved with numerous civic and church activities including being a member, Sunday School Teacher, Trustee and inactive Deacon at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, an alum of Leadership Northern Kentucky, serving on the Boards of the Independence Senior Center, Baptist Life Communities, Advisory Council of St. Elizabeth Hospice, Advisory Council of Legacy Financial Advisors, the fundraising teams for Friends of Walton Verona Basketball and Football Teams, and coaching multiple youth sports teams.  He is also the sole  proprietor of Angelic Memorials a memorial company specializing in custom monuments and items of remembrance for those experiencing a loss.

Steve is married to Vicki Hester Grubbs and has 3 step-sons, Brent, Chad & Eric Hopkins, as well as 2 dogs, Jake & Bella.  He lives in the Piner, KY area and is a member at Hickory Grove Baptist Church.  A licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer, Steve has been employed at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Homes since graduating from Simon Kenton High School in 1978.  He enjoys drag racing, gardening, landscaping, biking, boating, all water sports and breeding German Shepherd puppies.  Steve attended Mid-America Mortuary College and has been licensed since 1983.  Over the years, Steve has taken many courses related to the funeral profession and continues to do so.

John Sennhenn is currently the Managing Funeral Director and Embalmer at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Homes. He has worked for Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Homes since September 2013. John was raised on the west side of Cleveland, OH and graduated with honors from Lorain Southview High School and attended Ashland University where he holds an Associate of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Middle School Education (Grades 4-9) degrees. Furthering his education, John graduated Cum Laude from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 2012 with an Associate of Applied Science in Mortuary Science and served as class Vice-President. He is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in the State of Kentucky, as well as authorized to practice in both Ohio and Indiana under the guidelines of each state’s courtesy card. John also serves as an Adjunct at the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science as a Clinical Lab Instructor. He currently resides in Covington, KY with his family: wife, Kristen, newborn daughter, Lennon and rescue dog, Casablanca “Cassie”. In his free time, he enjoys drawing, listening to music, watching classic movies and spending time with his family and friends. John is very dedicated to his profession and understands what a gift it is to help honor a life well lived. He considers himself very fortunate to work with such dedicated people who all share a common vision and goal.

Katie Beagle had been employed with Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Homes and family since 2010. She is a 2008 graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and licensed as a Funeral Director and Embalmer in the state of Kentucky. She is a member and former president of the Boone County Jaycees, member of the Boone County Business Association, National Funeral Directors Association and Kentucky Funeral Directors Association. Katie enjoys spending time with her family and is an avid Bengals, Reds and UK fan.

Zach has been working for Chambers & Grubbs since 2016. He has an Associate’s Degree in Funeral Service from Mid-America College of Funeral Service, where he served as class President. Zach is a licensed Funeral Director & Embalmer. He enjoys fishing, playing softball, and watching his Louisville Cardinals.

Jill (Wainscott) Leininger is a 2006 graduate of Scott High School and a 2012 graduate of Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science with an Associate of Applied Science and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mortuary Science.  She resides in Independence with her husband, Kyle and two sons, Marshall and Mason, as well as, their Chocolate Lab, Laney.  Jill teaches swim lessons at Silverlake “The Family Place”, is a parishioner at St. Barbara’s Church and St. Pius X Church, and a member of Funeral Directors Association of Kentucky and National Funeral Directors Association.

Jan has been working in the funeral industry for over 16 years. She is married to Bob and has four children, Bobby (wife Andrea), Danny, Joey and Melissa.  She is also the proud grandmother of Savannah Rose. Her rescue dog, Cese, is never far from her side; and Jan enjoys frequent visits from her grand dogs Geoffrey and Snoop.  Jan graduated from Miami University with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.  After being a stay at home mom for over 14 years, she obtained her CPA license and went to work for a funeral home consulting firm. After working with the Grubbs family as clients, she decided to join their team in 2008 and work hands on in a funeral home.  She handles the day to day accounting and personnel responsibilities.  Her interests outside of work are primarily her family. She enjoys working in her garden, boating on Lake Cumberland and “getting her steps in”.

Sien Whitmire has recently joined the Chamber & Grubbs team as office administrator. She had spent the last 25+ years in the manufacturing industry focused on operational management. Born and raised in Boone County, Sien graduated from Conner High School, attended Northern Kentucky University and now resides in Union. Her greatest joy is spending time with her children, Karina, Alana, Ian and Dan and her 10 grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys researching genealogy for her family and friends traveling and participating in local history organizations.

Glenda grew up in Independence and graduated from Simon Kenton High School.  She has held a variety of positions working in downtown Cincinnati for almost thirty years.  Glenda decided to make a change and stay on this side of the river and has been with Chambers & Grubbs since November 2013.  She currently resides in Florence, Kentucky with her husband, of nearly twenty years, Dan and their two rescue dogs, Lacey and Bandit.  In her free time, Glenda enjoys sewing, scrap booking, and DIY home improvement projects.

Sam Lange has been with Chambers & Grubbs since 2016. He is currently serving his apprenticeship as a Level II apprentice. Sam graduated in 2016 with an Associate’s Degree in Mortuary Science from Mid-America College of Funeral Service. He is a certified crematory operator and arranger through the ICCFA (International Cemetery, Cremation, and Funeral Association). Sam was the recipient for the 2016 Pat R. Caniff Scholarship given by the Kentucky Funeral Directors Association. Sam is a native of the Northern Kentucky area. He is a 2014 graduate of Holy Cross High School in Covington, where he was a member of the 2011 2A State Championship football team and is a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Fort Wright. Sam is very involved in his community as a member of the Park Hills Volunteer Fire Department. During his free time, Sam enjoys site seeing, camping, and spending time with his family.



Donna Race, Director's Assistant/Reception Hostess

Donna is a Director's Assistant/Reception Hostess. She is the proud mother of two sons Leslie and Dennis and proud and devoted grandmother of Connor, Landon, Henson, Jay, Savannah, Sierra,and Jorja.  Donna is a High School graduate of Walton-Verona. She enjoys spending time with her grandchildren,UK basketball and photography. She has worked at Chambers & Grubbs for 21 years.  It is an honor  to work for them and serve the community.


Dale Hiles, Director's Assistant

Dale has been an Director's Assistant at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home for almost 12 years.  He has also been employed at UPS for over 30 years.  He has lived in the N. Kentucky area all his life.  He is a graduate of Simon Kenton High School, where basketball was his passion!  The love of basketball has never left him and he is still a loyal fan of the Kentucky Wildcats.  Dale now resides in Villa Hills, KY with his wife of 33 years, Pamela (Hampton) Hiles.   Dale and Pam are blessed with two wonderful children, Amber (Hiles) Bowling and Benjamin.  Amber and her husband, Jeremy, are the proud parents of a beautiful little girl, Savannah Hope, who is her Pap and Grammie’s pride and joy!   Benjamin just recently graduated Bible College.  Dale and his family are members of Refuge Holiness Tabernacle in Burlington, KY.  Over the years, he has always been very involved with church activities in whatever capacity he is needed; such as Sunday School Teacher, janitorial duties, van driver, fund raising, etc.  He and his wife served as church youth camp counselors for over 15 years, where Dale was also the Recreational Director.   Dale enjoys being around people and loves to serve the community by reaching out and helping the people he comes in contact with at Chambers & Grubbs.  


Linda Sprague, Director's Assistant/Aftercare Coordinator

Linda moved to Florence 17 years ago from her hometown of Bellefontaine, Ohio. She is a graduate of Miami University. Linda's career has included teaching, counseling, and homemaking. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Lee, and has been blessed with 4 children, their spouses and 10 grandchildren who all live in the Greater Cincinnati area. Linda enjoys serving her local community as a part of the Chambers & Grubbs team.

Lee Anne Ryan, Director's Assistant

Lee Anne is a graduate of Walton-Verona High School.  She married her high school sweet heart, Todd Ryan, and they were blessed with three wonderful children:  Nicholas, Lacey, Misty and along the way gained two awesome son-in-laws, Bobby and Jason.  She is also Mimi to Piper and Owen along with a special angel, Ryan, watching from above.  She attended Northern Kentucky University and obtained an Associate of Mental Health and a Bachelor of Education.   She taught elementary school in Boone County before earning her Master in Education (NKU) and a Master in Counseling (Xavier) to begin her career as an Elementary School Counselor in Kenton County.  She has worked as an elementary school counselor for the past 15 years.  She enjoys her daily interaction with students and parents while helping them learn strategies and skills to help them work through tough life experiences.  After the passing of Todd, she began to work with families going through divorce and the death of loved ones.  She knows the heartache and emotional toll that those experiences can cause and decided to pursue a career in the funeral business with Chambers & Grubbs to help others.  In her free time, she enjoys traveling, shopping, golf, decorating and spending time with her partner Brian, along with her family and precious grand babies.  Lee Anne has a quote she tries to live by: “We cannot get through life without pain… it is how we use the pain that will affect our future.”
