Obituary of Billie Bridges

Billie Cross Bridges, age 80, of Morning View, died Friday, April 27th, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood. She was a retired Postmaster for the U.S. Postal Service, and a member of the National Association of Postmasters. She was a member of the Kenton County Homemakers and of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, attended the Senior Ladies Sunday School Class, recorded church business meeting minutes, and served in other capacities. She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Wendel Bridges; children, Sherril Cook of Independence, Danny (Brenda) Bridges of Independence, David (Kim) Bridges of Piner, and Carrie (Ron) Slone of Georgetown; fourteen grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Her sister, Audrey Barnes, brother, Dale Cross, and son-in-law, Mike Cook preceded her in death. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs in Independence. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 11969 Taylor Mill Rd., Independence, KY 41051. Interment will be at Wilmington Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Wilmington Cemetery Fund in care of Wilmington Baptist Church or to Hickory Grove Baptist Church.
