Obituary of Waymon Cooke

Waymon Pascal "Grumpy" "Cookie" Cooke, age 92, of Independence, died Sunday July 10, 2011 at his residence. He was a retired laborer for Formica and a former member of the Wilmington Masonic lodge. Mr. Cooke loved the color red and enjoyed horses, the Cincinnati Reds, and eating (especially at Cracker Barrel, Bob Evans, & Frisch's). His wife, Hilda Virginia Cooke; daughter, Margie Ankenbaurer; and great grandchild, Madison preceded him in death. Survivors include his daughters, Janet Halker of Cincinnati, Barb Bach of Morning View, Brenda Tunstall of Independence, Sherrie Heringer of Park Hills, and Robin Cooke of Independence; son Bryson Cooke of Morning View; thirteen grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at St. Cecilia Church in Independence. Mass of Christian burial will begin at 12 noon at the church. Interment will be at Floral Hills Cemetery in Taylor Mill. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Cecilia Church Building Fund at 5313 Madison Pk., Independence, KY 41051, or St. Elizabeth Hospice at 483 South Loop Dr., Edgewood, KY 41017.
