Martha Jones Carter, age 85 of Independence, passed away Thursday 11/17/11 at Hospice of St. Elizabeth, Edgewood. She was a retired employee of PNC Bank and a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. She was very family oriented and enjoyed bowling, cooking, gardening and traveling. Preceded in death by her husband George Robert Carter, sister, Dorothy Lipford and brother Harry"Bud"Jones. Survived by daughter Debby Carter and son Robert Carter, both of Independence, 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Chambers & Grubbs Independence Monday 11/21/11. Visitation will be from 11-1 pm. Funeral service will be at 1 pm. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery. Memorial donations suggested to the American Heart Association, Kentucky Region, 240 Whittington Pkwy., Louisville, Ky. 40222 or Alzheimers Assoc., Greater Cinn.
