Obituary of Thomas "Tommy" Meyer Sr.

Thomas “Tommy” Meyer Sr., 80, of Florence, KY, passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 14, 2022, at his residence. The son of the late Martin and Mary {Grossman} Meyer, Tommy was born in Cincinnati, OH, on June 3, 1943. He retired from Queen City Metro in Cincinnati after 38 years of bus driving. Over those years, he drove over 3 million miles which is the equivalent distance of traveling to the moon and back 3 times! He enjoyed assisting his bus patrons with anything they needed along the ride and would even help the children with their homework after school.

In his younger years, Tommy had a passion for building hot rods and racing motorcycles and cars. He attended senior bowling for over 21 years every Friday. He also enjoyed coaching children’s sports teams including baseball and football. Tommy can be easily characterized by his selflessness, his loyalty to his family and friends, and how thoughtful and caring he was of others.

Tommy will be greatly missed by his son Thomas (Kelly) Meyer Jr.; significant other of 19 years, Peggy Carboina; stepson Vincent Carboina; grandchildren Madeline and Charlie Meyer; and sister Sheila Meyer.

In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Meyer.

A visitation will be held between 5 PM and 8 PM on Friday, October 20^th at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike Independence, KY 41051. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home the following day, Saturday, October 21^st at 10 AM. Tommy will be laid to rest at St. Joseph New Cemetery in Cincinnati.
