Obituary of Alan John Corgiat

Please share a memory of Alan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Alan John Corgiat, age 76, of Union, Kentucky, went to his eternal reward on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence, KY with his family at his bedside.

He was born on May 2, 1947, to Elden and Marion (Meyer) Corgiat, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  He served his country in the United States Army, stationed in Vietnam, from 1966-1968.  He returned home and married his sweetheart, Carol Ann (Lanza), who was his companion (and also his devoted caregiver) for just shy of 55 years.

Alan held many machinist jobs over the years, including at Harley Davidson, Evinrude Motors, John Deere, and Mercury Marine in Wisconsin.  When he turned 40, he pursued a change of career and became a Corrections Officer with the Washington County Sheriff in West Bend, WI until he retired and moved to Kentucky in 2004.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Michael Corgiat (in 2021), and his brother, Mark Corgiat (in 2022).

In addition to his beloved wife, Alan is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Mark) Ball of Walton, KY, his son, Jeffrey Corgiat, of Florence, KY, his sister, Susan Janiuk of Delafield, WI, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Alan had a tremendous love for the Lord and loved singing in the church choir and participating in numerous Christmas productions over the years.  He was a compassionate and devoted individual whose life was defined by his deep commitment to serving others and nurturing his creative passions. He found immense fulfillment in his involvement with jail ministry, where he selflessly shared his faith and offered support to those in need. His love for giving Bible studies was a testament to his desire to impart spiritual guidance and help others find solace and purpose in their lives. Beyond his ministry work, he found joy in woodworking and crafts, channeling his creativity into beautiful creations that brought beauty and joy to those around him. His legacy is one of unwavering kindness, generosity, and a profound dedication to both spiritual and creative endeavors, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Alan chose to donate his body to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 23rd at 11:00 AM at Chapel of Praise Assembly of God; 1562 Hwy 159 N. Falmouth, KY 41040.
