Obituary of Eddie Compton

Eddie Glen Compton, age 97 of Covington, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Hospice of St. Elizabeth, Edgewood. He was a retired superintendent for Carlton Machine & Tool, a member of Community Family Church and enjoyed basket making, gardening his tomatoes and storytelling. He especially loved his grandchildren. Eddie was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Compton, daughter, Judith Ann Compton and son Larry Compton. He is survived by daughter Shelby "Jeanne" Koopman of Daytona, Fl, sons, Eddie "Butch" Glen Compton, Jr. of Covington and James Melvin Compton of Minneola, Fl, sister, Kimmel Bailey of Cincinnati, Oh, grandchildren, Mark Koopman, Dawn Larson, Joanie Loch, Tammy Branson, Shelly Eason, Mike Compton and Dianne Evans, 16 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Chambers & Grubbs Independence. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Wednesday, August 29, 2012. Funeral service will be 10 am Thursday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery. Memorial donations are requested to: Hospice of St. Elizabeth, 483 S. Loop Rd., Edgewood, Ky. 41017.
