Obituary of Hilda Marshall Varner

Hilda Marshall (Wallace) Varner, age 95, of Dry Ridge, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 in Owenton, KY.

She was born on September 28, 1923 in Verona, KY to the late John and Gipsy (Sturgeon) Wallace. Hilda was a homemaker and attended church at Grace Baptist in Independence. Throughout her life she enjoyed soap operas, listening to George Strait, shopping and spending time with her beloved family.

Hilda is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Henley Varner in 1977; sons, Gale, David and James Varner; grandsons, Clinton and Wesley McClure; and her sisters, Viola Webster, Nora Sturgeon and Queenie Wallace. She is survived by her children, Dixie McClure (Colby), Brenda Watts (Leslie), and Tony Varner (Virginia); 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

A visitation for Hilda will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 11AM until the time of the Funeral Service, 1PM, at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Walton. Interment will immediately follow at New Bethel Cemetery in Verona.
