Obituary of John Paul Isenhour, Jr.
John Paul Isenhour, Jr. “Ike” of Union, Kentucky, age 67, passed away Monday, January 18, 2020 at his residence and surrounded by his loving family. He was a UPS truck driver for 42 years prior to his retirement. He was an avid golfer, a sports enthusiast, and a lover of history. He was truly a lifelong learner. He enjoyed all music especially popular rock, classical and blues. Ike was a devoted family man who was happiest with a house full of those he loved.
Ike was born in Covington, Kentucky on May 14, 1953 to John Paul Sr. and Mary Dolores (Kampsen) Isenhour who preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah (Martin) Isenhour; his siblings, Patricia, Linda, and Mark of Covington and Elaine of Sarasota, Florida. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Norman Martin. He is also survived by his son, Drew Isenhour of Independence; his daughter, Hillary (Justin) Isenhour of Erlanger; his stepdaughter, Angie (Steve) Bailey of Union; and his stepson, Joshua (Maria) Heuser of Cincinnati, OH. Ike loved each of his grandchildren: Riley, Anderson, Jackson, Hazel, Lauren, Austin, Shelby and Ezra. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces and friends too numerous to count.
A visitation celebrating Ike’s life will be held at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051 on Thursday, January 21, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, face masks are required, social distancing is encouraged, and 50% capacity will be limited at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held at the same location on Friday, January 22, 2021 at 9:00 AM. He will be interred at Floral Hills Cemetery in Taylor Mill following the service. Memorial donations in honor of Ike’s generous life may be made to Bluegrass Hospice Care, 51 Cavalier Blvd., Suite 200, Florence, KY 41042.
