Obituary of John Robinson, Sr.

     John Thomas “J.T.” Robinson, Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his residence on Friday, May 21, 2021 at the age of 65.

     He was born as one of ten children in Covington, KY on June 28, 1955.  In his earlier years, John enjoyed deer hunting and target shooting. He was an NRA member and an officer in the Kersten O’Day Sportsman Club.  A native of Northern Kentucky, John loved watching baseball, especially the Cincinnati Reds. He was a longtime member of the St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church in Independence, KY. John’s world however revolved around fire service having worked in it for 38 years as a firefighter and paramedic.  He was a distinguished union president, was on the heroin task force and was a counselor for first responders dealing with PTSD. John had a wealth of knowledge and enjoyed sharing and mentoring new firefighters and paramedics, having probably trained a good portion of those working in the field in Northern Kentucky.  His greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his beloved family who he cherished deeply.

     Preceding John in death was his father, Richard Robinson.

     Those left surviving to carry on John’s memory and keep his lasting legacy alive include his devoted and loving wife of 46 years, Patti Robinson; caring children, Brian (Julie) Robinson, John Thomas (Lori) Robinson, Jr., Amy (Jason) Harrod and Faith Robinson; mother Dolores Robinson; siblings, Chris McNeil, Rick Robinson, Angie Pietrosky, Joe Robinson, Steve Robinson, Anita Robinson, Andy Robinson, Fran Brown and Don Robinson; grandchildren, Nicholas “Nick” Robinson, Andrew Harrod, Jacob “Jake” Robinson, Jack Harrod, Owen Harrod and two twin babies on the way; faithful four-legged friend, Sophie; as well as many nieces, nephews, close relatives and countless friends who are now emptier upon his passing.

     Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, face masks are required, social distancing is encouraged and 60 % capacity will be limited at the church. A Visitation celebrating John’s life will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Homes, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held the following day, Friday, May 28, 2021 at 12:00 PM at St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, 5313 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. John will be laid to rest with firefighter funeral honors at St. Cecilia Cemetery located on the church grounds.

     In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in John’s name to the Chip Terry Fund for First Responders.
