Obituary of Malissa Amburgey

Malissa Ann Amburgey, 51, passed away after an extended illness at Select Specialty/The Christ Hospital on Friday, April 22, 2022.  She was born on January 21, 1971 to Billy R. Amburgey and Donna [Wilson] Amburgey in Cincinnati, OH.

Malissa was raised Baptist and worked for a time for the billing and administration department of Fifth Third Bank. Malissa was a great appreciator of music, specifically country and rock. She enjoyed dancing, working out at the gym, collecting dolls, but most of all she loved her family.  She “visited with mom and dad” as frequently as she could and treasured her time with her daughter.

Those left surviving to spread Malissa’s love and light are daughter Brianna Katelyn Schoemaker (Coddy); parents Billy and Donna Amburgey; sister Shannon Amburgey; brother Billy Ray Amburgey, Jr.; nieces and nephews; as well as many cousins and close friends.

Malissa was preceded in death by her grandparents Morris & Callie Ward and grandmother Allie Amburgey in addition to uncles, aunts and cousins.

A visitation will be held for Malissa on Friday, April 29, 2022 at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM. A funeral service celebrating Malissa’s life will be held the following day on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 10:00 AM, also at the funeral home. Following the funeral service, Malissa will be laid to rest at Independence Cemetery.
