Obituary of Joyce C. Sammet

Joyce Corra Sammet, née White, age 93, passed away on June 24, 2024 at Boonespring Skilled Nursing Facility, in Union, KY.  Born in Pittsfield, MA on August 7, 1930, she was the daughter of Percy and Marion Lena [Underwood] White. 

Joyce and her late husband Charles (Chuck) Sammet were married Dec 28, 1952 and for the next 10 years spent traveling the US as Chuck was a member of the USAF.  They settled in the Central FLA area in 1954.  Joyce was a graduate of Rollins College, and retired as the Office Manager of Orange Paving & Const Co.   She was very active in Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in the Sanford area.

Joyce was the beloved mother of Eileen (Jim) Heasley and Charles “Chuck” (Allison) Sammet and the dear grandmother of James M. Heasley, Jr., Christopher Mack, Benjamin Sammet, and Alyssa Sammet.  Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Benjamin Sammet.

Joyce and Chuck will return home to the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts that they knew and loved so well. They will be jointly laid to rest at Forest Hills Cemetery, 95 Forest Hills Avenue, Boston, MA 02130, privately at a later date.

In lieu of flowers and other expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made in Joyce’s name to Rollins College.
