Obituary of Cindy Jo Crigger

Please share a memory of Cindy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Cindy Jo Crigger, 65, passed away at her home surrounded by loving family and friends on Sunday, July 14, 2024.

The daughter of the late Don and Ozella Norman; Cindy was born on July 20, 1958, in Charlottesville, VA.

Cindy was the beloved and faithful wife to Terry Crigger; treasured mom to Ashley (Austin) Dunbar and Haley Crigger; loving sister to Naomi (Mark) MacKenzie; devoted ‘Nana’ to Rya Faith, Sophia Jude, and Stella James; caring aunt to Courtney (Chris) Winkler, Connor (Shaylee) MacKenzie, Carter (Marcus) Jonagan; and precious great-aunt to Chloe Winkler, Caden Winkler, Nathan MacKenzie, and Carina Jonagan. Cindy Jo will also be remembered by her vast network of friends and her extensive church family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her maternal grandparents Edgar and Minerva Hicks as well as her paternal grandparents William and Hilda Jo Norman.

Cindy attended Wheaton College and also Oral Roberts University, earning a master’s degree in psychology. A curious student of life, Cindy loved to travel abroad, learn new languages, and experience the vastness of God’s creation up close. She was devoted to the education of herself and others, homeschooling her two daughters for several years before they began public school. While still maintaining a professional counseling practice at the church that she and her husband began in 1986 (Christ’s Chapel), Cindy also enrolled in and began studies in a pre-med program, taught Spanish at R. A. Jones Middle School, and fervently and tirelessly educated and advocated for young girls with My Life My Choice – a survivor-led organization fighting against commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking. Forever feisty with a competitive streak, Cindy enjoyed playing (and winning) ‘Scrabble’ and ‘Liverpool Rummy’ with family and friends. Cindy also loved cross-stitching, reading, gardening, watching classic movies on TCM, and spending time at Lake Cumberland with family and friends.

Cindy’s faith in Jesus was unwavering with a determination to extend God’s redemptive love to the broken.  The impact of her Christ centered counseling impacted many as she blended truth with grace, offering hope and healing seasoned with genuine transparency.

Services in honor of Cindy will be on Friday, July 19, 2024. Visitation will be from 9 – 11AM at Christ’s Chapel Assembly of God, 3819 Turfway Road, Erlanger, Kentucky 41018.  The funeral begins at 11AM, also at the church.  Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 3227 Dixie Hwy, Erlanger, Kentucky, 41018.
