Obituary of Gary Pickett

Gary Wayman Pickett, age 70, of Independence, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood. He was a former Truck Driver for Con Quip, Acramold Engineering and Don Salyers Masonry, a U.S. Navy Veteran, a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, a member of The National Wild Turkey Federation, National Rifle Association and The League Of Kentucky Sportsman, a lifetime member of Kenton Game and Fish, a member of the Northern Kentucky Bluegrass Association and a Mason. Gary also enjoyed bluegrass music, camping and was an avid hunter. Survivors include his wife, Judith Carol McGuire Pickett; daughters, Tracy Susan Pickett Keel of Independence and Shellie Paulette (James) Pickett Ishmael of Independence; sisters, Paula England of Florence and Virginia Salyers of Florence; grandchildren, Amanda Keel, Jacob Keel, Chance Ishmael, and Gage Ishmael.
A gathering of friends will be held Sunday, January 13, 2013 from 2 to 4 PM at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home of Independence. Memorial services, with military honors, will begin at 4 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Williamstown, KY.
