Obituary of Gordon Maynard

Gordon Maynard, 75, of Union passed away Monday, February 18, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare of Edgewood. He was a Teamster Union Steward and retired truck driver from O.K./Wentz Freightways after 32 years. Gordon was a member of Union Baptist and served in the United States Navy. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, was an avid UK basketball fan, watched Gunsmoke every night on TV, and loved his grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles B. and Vadia (Martin) Maynard and brother Charles Maynard. Survivors include his wife of 48 years Ruth Chapman Maynard; sons Mickey (Amy) of Anderson Township, OH and Bradley (Emily) of Crittenden; sisters Ruth Blakley of LasVegas, NV, Jeanetta (Ron) Dabney of Burlington, Loretta Finnicum of Burlington; brother John (Sheryl) Maynard of Walton; grandchildren Morgan, Ethan, Aaron, and Sarah Maynard; and Jenna and Katie Adams. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from 5-8 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home of Florence. Funeral service will be 1 PM Thursday, February 21, 2013 also at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rice Cemetery of Union. Memorials are suggested to the Union Baptist Church Mortgage Fund 1985 Mt. Zion Rd. Union, KY 41091.
