Obituary of Vernon Lykins

Vernon E. Lykins, 85, died Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. Elizabeth Hospice, Edgewood.
He was a retired forklift operator for the Inmont Corp. He was a member and deacon at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Independence.
His wife, Mary Lykins, died in 2003; grandson, Greg Brewer, died in 1971 and grandson, Bill Brewer, died in 2007.
He is survived by his sons, Ray, Eddie and Gary Lykins; daughters, Shirley Brewer and Phyllis Gravitt; 20 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Hickory Grove Baptist Church. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Taylor Mill.
