Obituary of Oscar Slavey

Oscar "Bill" William Slavey, age 79 of Independence, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013. Bill retired as a Railroad conductor CSX Railroad, previously L&N Railroad after 42 years of service. He is a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. Bill is a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Golden Rule Masonic Lodge #345 of Latonia, 32nd degree Scottish Rite member and Syrian Shriners of Cincinnati. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Jo Ann Campbell Slavey, sons, Oscar W. Slavey II(Robin)of Corbin, Bruce Slavey of Hebron, Ernest Slavey(Wendy)of Independence and Scott Slavey(Sherri)of Independence, grandchildren, Misty Hodges, Heather Klingenberg, Ashley Slavey, Matthew Slavey, Elise Slavey, Jeffrey Slavey II, Katie Slavey and 6 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Chambers & Grubbs Independence on Wednesday, May 22, 2013. Visitation will be from 11 AM till 1 PM with the funeral ceremony immediately following. Burial will be at Independence Cemetery. Memorial donations are requested to: Shriners Hospital of Cincinnati, 3229 Burnet Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45229-3095.
