Obituary of Ellis Powell

Ellis Powell, age 88 of Independence, passed away Monday, July 8, 2013. Ellis was a retired Maintenance worker at General Motors. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and honorably served in the Pacific theatre. He is a member of New Hope Tabernacle Church, Lifetime member of VFW Post #3205, Scottish Rite and 32nd degree mason of Newport Lodge # 358. He is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Powell, son, Danny Powell and grandson, Michael Weaver. Ellis is survived by daughter, Brenda (Darryl) Weaver of Independence, sister, Patsy Pitzer of Taylor Mill, brothers Bobbie Powell of Mt. Orab, Oh. and Donald Powell of Erlanger, 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Chambers & Grubbs Independence.
Visitation will be 4-7 pm Friday, July 12, 2013 and funeral services will be 10 am Saturday, July 13, 2013. Burial with military honors will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
